What to Expect When You Visit
If you have never attended an Orthodox service before, you are warmly welcome to visit Holy Trinity Parish.
The central act of worship in the Orthodox Church is the Divine Liturgy, which is a service of prayer, Scripture, and sacred hymnography that has been preserved in the life of the Church since the earliest centuries of Christianity. Worship in the Orthodox Church engages the whole person—heart, mind, and senses—through prayer, chanting, icons, and reverent participation in the services.
Visitors are welcome to stand or sit where comfortable and simply observe or follow along as they are able. There is no expectation that visitors participate in anything unfamiliar.
Holy Communion is received by baptized Orthodox Christians who have prepared themselves through prayer and repentance. Those who are not Orthodox are welcome to come forward at the end of the service to receive blessed bread.
After the Divine Liturgy, we invite everyone to remain for fellowship and refreshments. This is a wonderful opportunity to meet members of the parish community and ask any questions you may have.
